Referencing typical ionizing subatomic particles from radioactive decay, Alpha/Beta/Gamma, is a visual exploration of potential nuclear futures, architectural fallout precautions and shelter possibilities. Alpha/Beta/Gamma is both a set of vertical banners and a single-sided concertina publication. This project uses hand-cut collage as a composition tactic to address the inherent nostalgia embedded in the act of imagining hereafters. Alpha/Beta/Gamma was made with analogue collage, then scanned, digitally printed and assembled by hand on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl’ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-waututh) peoples (Vancouver BC).

The artist book form of Alpha/Beta/Gamma was featured in the BIBLIOCACHE experimental library by PoorQuality at the 2019 Vancouver Art Book Fair. Its cover and text is typeset with Avenir, a sans-serif typeface designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1987 and released in 1988 by Linotype GmbH. The word avenir is French for ‘future’.
