wood, steel rods (32 components, each 30.5 cm wide, 183 cm tall)

Installed throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, Elegy for Sukanen was initially a roving public installation related to Will Ferguson’s non-fiction stories about Tomi Jaanus Sukanen (Saskatchewan farmer and Finnish immigrant). The documentation and boat stilts were then transformed into an artist book and installation at the Anna Leonowens Gallery, Halifax, NS.
