Performing Nature
2023

Atmospheric Portals
hand-cut collage on cotton rag paper (25 x 36 cm)

In the series ‘Performing Nature’, photographic fragments of exterior, ‘natural’ phenomena collide with domestic interior elements featuring patterns inspired by flora and fauna.   The composite ex/in-terior sites foster a dialogue about the meaning and romanticism of the word ‘nature’, at a moment when the living world is deeply entangled with human intervention.

These works were originally exhibited as part of the Special Edition: Educator’s Showcase with Sharp Hands Gallery in Spring 2023, curated by Cheryl Chudyk & Kevin Sampsell.
